Local Saints’ day feasts

In Lacco Ameno, inside Villa Arbusto, purchased by Angelo Rizzoli in 1952, the Archaeological Museum of Pithecusae contains the testimonies that illustrate the history of the island, from prehistory to the Roman age. Among the many finds, the Nestor’s Cup, stands out, considered the first form of writing in the Western world.

Inside the same Villa you will also find the Angelo Rizzoli Museum dedicated to his life and his work: creator of our hotel Regina Isabella, as well as an important figure for the whole island of Ischia.

Archaeological Museum of Pithecusae

The Aragon Castle stands on a rock islet, resulting from an eruption of 300,000 years ago. The construction of a first castle dates back to 474 B.C., while the current version is due to the Aragon family. On the islet you can admire, among other things, the Immacolata Church, the Clarisse’s Convent and Cemetery, the Assunta Cathedral and the San Pietro a Pantaniello Church.

Today, open to the public for the classic guided tour, it is also home to various events: painting, sculpture, music, cinema, theater, photography, literature.

Aragon Castle

La Mortella Gardens were created starting in 1958 by Lady Susana Walton, wife of the English composer Sir William Walton. The development of the garden took more than 50 years. First, Lady Walton had the help and advice of the English landscape designer Russell Page. Then, exclusively by her creativity.

Since 1991 the garden is open to the public to enjoy its wonders.
